General Position Summary:

Performs various department tasks to assist department operators including preparing raw material, managing waste material, and cleaning finished production parts. Responsible for maintaining the aesthetic look of the department and maintaining clear isle ways. Works on assignments that vary in nature where attention to detail is critical including lot control. 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for preparing raw materials for production machines.

  2. Measurers size of material, inspects bar straightness, and chamfers bar ends.

  3. Maintain/organize material flow from inventory to machine work stations. 

  4. Sort and deburr finished machined parts. Attention to detail required including visually processing cosmetic defects. 

Secondary Functions:

  1. Sorting raw materials and notifying purchasing of non-conforming lots.

  2. Collect machine wastes and transfer to spinning department.

  3. Collect solid metal waste and dispose. 

  4. Clean machine exterior surfaces.

Job Scope:

Performs duties independently with some supervision, operating from specific and definite directions and instructions. Decisions are of a routine nature made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position is not supervisory in nature.

Interpersonal Contacts:

The most common internal contacts are with own department staff and own supervisor. Contacts are as a result of regular, on-going duties.

Specific Job Skills:

  1. Uses fork lift and some machinery when working/moving product. 

  2. Basic knowledge on using calipers and micrometers a plus.

  3. Attention to detail reading job travelers.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. Six months to one-year experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred. Computer skills- PC: Word, Excel, Outlook, Scanning, able to stand for long periods of time. Able to communicate successfully with others. Ability to work independently in a team environment. English speaking skills to support efficient training.

Job Conditions:

Must be able to perform lifting of up to 50 lbs. and routinely lift 25-30 lbs. Must be able to lift bar stock into machinery. (Up to 25 Pounds) Safety glasses and hearing protection is required and supplied. Bend Several Times/Hour . Carry: 21-40 Lbs. Several Times/Day Twist: Several Times/Hour. Lift from Floor: 21-40 lbs. Several Times/Day. Sitting: 6-8 hours per day. Walking: 4+ hours per day. Standing: 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive use of hands: Simple grasping; pushing, pulling and twisting. Several Times/Hour.  Dust: Minimal. Noise: Minimal-Moderate. Extreme Temp: Minimal-Moderate.
