There is a number of reasons to consider manufacturing your precision products out of aluminum. Aluminum is a cost effective material that can be machined quickly and hold very cosmetic finishes. Aluminum is lighter in material weight, lower in material hardness and has good formability making it ideal for use in machining and other manufacturing operations.

Commonly used grades of aluminum

There are many different grades of aluminum. We run everything from 2011 to 7075 aircraft grade aluminum. 2024 and 6061 T6 aluminum being the most commonly ran in our shop.

How to design for machining aluminum

When designing parts from aluminum there are a few things you need to consider. You need to consider if the parts need to be welded, machined, plated and corrosion resistant or heat treated after machining.
