General Position Summary:
Responsible for the production of turned parts, fasteners and miscellaneous hardware. Operates Davenport machines and will be trained on the job. Must be a driven and hands on mechanically inclined individual.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities Are But Not Limited To:
Responsible to Set-up and operate Davenport Model B screw machines.
Works from layout sheets, drawings, and specifications to setup jobs.
Have working knowledge of cam and gear selection, tool design, and Davenport machine troubleshooting.
Must have working knowledge of davenport attachments for threading, cross-drilling, etc.
Reads blueprints, drawings and job orders for information such as dimensions, tolerances and number of work pieces and GD&T.
Adjusts and changes tool settings to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
Verifies conformance of production parts to specifications using various measuring instruments.
Sharpens tools as required
Trains operators on machine operation, loading, and running.
Performs other duties as required.
Specific Job Skills:
Good interpersonal and language skills are required in interacting with team members
Ability to produce quality product without sacrificing defined throughput (quantities per hour) expectations.
Ability to layout new jobs and make continual process improvements is preferred.
Strong mechanical ability is required.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Manufacturing Technology courses a plus.
3 - 5 years’ experience with screw machine as a set up machinist.
Screw machine, Mills, Lathes, Automated Drill Presses experience in machine shop.
Able to stand for long periods of time and interested in machining/mechanically inclined.
Able to communicate successfully with others and the ability to work independently in a team environment.
